Jungian Psychotherapy can be a helpful means towards becoming more conscious of who we naturally, originally are. Through the course of a human life, we can often become diverted away from this essence, or, “native self.” Once this is left behind, we may experience a sense of emptiness or meaninglessness that we cannot quite articulate or understand.
Carl Jung was known for his central idea of “individuation,” which describes a lifelong process within each individual that moves us ever closer to the centre of who we are. Jungian psychotherapy offers a container for this, often difficult, journey of exploration and renewal. An important element of this therapy is to take account of the dreams you are having, or have had in the past, as a way of understanding what may be trying to make itself known in your inner world.
Creative individuals such as writers, artists and poets often particularly benefit from this kind of inner work – but not exclusively, as of course, a creative life can take many different forms.
